After a couple hours of adding the events and adding some custom styling and going through the documentation for custom styling, I was able to create the event calendar how I wanted. The Short code is also a very handy plug in if you wish to add calendars on specific pages.

This plugin allowed me to replace a list of posts (with excerpts and images) on our home page with a list of upcoming music events. The theme we use doesn’t support custom post types, so this plugin saved me a ton of work. Going forward, we also cut our site updating work in half because we now simply update our calendar without having to duplicate calendar content in weekly posts. This plugin rocks.

I downloaded the CoolPlugins Events Shortcodes Pro plugin to use with The Events Calendar plugin. It worked pretty well but didn’t quite look how I wanted. I dropped a message to the Cool Plugins team and within an hour I had a response with precise details of some css code (at which I’m a novice) and instructions as how to input it. The results were exactly what I wanted. This is top notch support !

This plugin is pretty self explanatory. The interface is simple and you won’t break anything if you play around until you find the right settings for your calendar display. It’s sort of the star of the plugins for “The Events Calendar” plugin addons provided by this developer. Well done, @coolplugins!
